Traditional ice conditioners create new ice by flooding the surface with water. Unfortunately this method often leads to inferior ice. Our client developed a system which sprays water instead. It worked great but lacked visual presence and appeal. The spray bars needed to be protected and hidden from view. The original cowling was fabricated of steel - costly to manufacture and very heavy. We created two molded "wings" to house the spray assembly weighing only 28 pounds. The top wing also provides important space for marketing. Our 3D computer model provided the rendering below as well as creating the tool path for cutting the molds. A working prototype was built using one-off parts.
